If you have decided to purchase a puppy from me, I will need you to provide me with assurances and comply with the following terms and conditions. Please know that I only ask these requirements be met to insure that the puppy I have loved and cared for since birth does not end up in the pound or a rescue center.
That you have time for a dog. It is not reasonable to leave a puppy alone all the time. Leaving the puppy alone for too many hours is not conducive to raising a puppy or achieving house training. However, as people need to work, there are accommodations that can be made. Please ask me about these options.
That you are willing to financially support a dog with a life expectancy of 12-16 years. This would include spaying/neutering and any necessary veterinary care.
That you are willing to learn and perform some basic grooming, i.e. trimming nails, ear cleaning, etc. Or, in the alternative, that you are willing to pay someone to do this for you.
I do not discourage first-time dachshund owners, and am happy to be a resource for you and the puppy that will change you forever. Once you own a dachshund, you will never be without one again.
I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO SELL A PUPPY TO ANY PERSON. I DO NOT KNOWINGLY SELL TO BROKERS, PET STORES OR OTHER ENTITIES.
IF YOU CANNOT KEEP THE DACHSHUND YOU PURCHASED FROM ME FOR ANY REASON, I ASK THAT YOU NOTIFY ME. I WILL ALWAYS TAKE BACK ONE OF MY DACHSHUNDS.
Knowledge of Breed
If this is your first dachshund (or even if it's not), I encourage you to read anything you can get your hands on about the breed. Also, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have at any time. I will share my knowledge and any tips I have that may make the journey with your new puppy easier.
A $200 deposit is required to hold a puppy. This deposit is non-refundable. If you back out on the purchase of your puppy, you will forfeit your deposit. The balance is due when you pick up your puppy and may be paid with cash, bank check or money order. Unfortunately, personal checks cannot be accepted for final payment.
Unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon with me, all puppies will be sold with AKC Limited Registration papers, and as "pet only". AKC Full Registration will only be considered for those purchasing a show puppy under separate contract.
Taking your puppy home
You can expect to be able to pick up your new puppy at approximately 8 to 10 weeks of age. At this point, puppies will be fully weaned and have had a veterinary wellness check and first puppy vaccine. A pickup date and time will be scheduled on an individual basis.
